A tough loss but Tyrese Maxey, Andre Drummond and the Philadelphia 76ers (6-4) put up a good fight in a 111-108 loss to the visiting Detroit Pistons (8-2). The Sixers led by as much as 13 points midway through the third quarter, but saw that lead evaporate to a three-point deficit heading into the fourth. Maxey, who scored a game-high 33 with seven assists, kept battling until the end as he attempted a three-pointer to tie the game and force overtime, only to see it fall short at the buzzer. The 76ers were down big early, but fought back to tie the game at 72-72 in the third quarter, only to see the Cavaliers go on a run to put the game out of hand. Philadelphia received solid contributions off the bench from Andre Drummond (13 points, 13 rebounds) and Trendon Watford (16 points, 6 assists), while VJ Edgecombe had his toughest game of his young career, finishing with just six points on 3-12 shooting. The Philadelphia 76ers put up another fight but are undefeated no more as the Boston Celtics visit Philadelphia on Halloween, defeating the Sixers 109-108 in another hard-fought game. Boston led by as many as 24 points only to have the 76ers trim the lead to one late in the fourth quarter. But, Jaylen Brown (game-high 32 points) and company were just too much as they won their third row and snapped Philadelphia's win streak. Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 26, 14 assists + eight rebounds, Joel Embiid added 20 in a season-high 25 minutes, Kelly Oubre Jr. and VJ Edgecombe finished with 17 each.
