Flooding concerns are once again making headlines across parts of Quebec, including here in Montreal and surrounding communities, as rising water levels have some homeowners keeping a very close eye on shorelines and backyards. One person who knows that feeling firsthand is comedian, writer and actor Heidi Foss, who lives in Vaudreuil right by Lac des Deux Montagnes and has been watching the water creep higher near her home. She spoke to Andrew Carter.

Can a lifetime smoking ban work in Canada?

The U.K. is moving toward what it’s calling a “smoke-free generation.” Lawmakers there have approved landmark legislation that would permanently ban cigarette sales to anyone born after January 1st, 2009, meaning today’s teenagers would never legally be able to buy tobacco products in their lifetime. The law will also ban vaping, in places where smoking is banned, and allows the government to regulate the flavours and packaging of vaping products. Flory Doucas, co-director and spokesperson for the Quebec Coalition for Tobacco Control, spoke to Andrew Carter.

The Bank of Canada says counterfeit money is a concern across the country, and if you unknowingly accept a fake bill, you’re the one who takes the loss.
