Flooding concerns are once again making headlines across parts of Quebec, including here in Montreal and surrounding communities, as rising water levels have some homeowners keeping a very close eye on shorelines and backyards. One person who knows that feeling firsthand is comedian, writer and actor Heidi Foss, who lives in Vaudreuil right by Lac des Deux Montagnes and has been watching the water creep higher near her home. The U.K. is moving toward what it’s calling a “smoke-free generation.” Lawmakers there have approved landmark legislation that would permanently ban cigarette sales to anyone born after January 1st, 2009, meaning today’s teenagers would never legally be able to buy tobacco products in their lifetime. The law will also ban vaping, in places where smoking is banned, and allows the government to regulate the flavours and packaging of vaping products. Flory Doucas, co-director and spokesperson for the Quebec Coalition for Tobacco Control, spoke to Andrew Carter.

Montreal police are warning that more counterfeit cash is circulating, and the fake bills are getting harder to spot. It’s not just a local issue either. The Bank of Canada says counterfeit money is a concern across the country, and if you unknowingly accept a fake bill, you’re the one who takes the loss. Anna Hardy, from the Currency Department of the Bank of Canada, spoke to Andrew Carter.

A new survey from the Canadian Medical Association paints a pretty alarming picture: nearly all doctors in Canada say they’ve had to step in after a patient followed false or misleading health advice they found online, including advice from artificial intelligence.
