How Joe Zepecki Wants To Lead WI Democrats (Hour 1)

4/23/2025
Today is our first show at our new time of 2-4 pm! Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project follows us into the mid-afternoon to share his unique perspective on the news of the day. Like Todd, he is a native Wisconsinite and former Republican. Unlike Todd, Trygve has worked in politics at all levels around the world, including presidential campaigns and battling authoritarianism in Eastern Europe. We ask Trygve about the developments of the Trump administration’s complete disregard of due process and rule of law. At the bottom of the hour, we are visited by Democratic political operative Joe Zepecki of Zepecki Communications. Ben Wikler recently announced that he will not run for reelection as Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. Now, Zepecki is running to carry on the torch. Pete Hegseth May Be Drunk Texting Again, Apparently (Hour 2)

4/21/2025
In our second hour, Todd spends some more time remembering the late Pope Francis. He shares some of his memorable quotes and remarks from former President Obama. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: bad breath or body odor? Neither is a great smell, but which one makes you want to gag? Secretary Pete Hegseth’s Signalgate controversy continues to balloon to increasingly disconcerting levels. Hegseth used non-government communication channels for classified military plans, accidentally including a journalist in the group chat. We now know that Hegseth also used his personal phone to share classified military plans with family members and his lawyer. Tomorrow, Todd will broadcast live from Governor Nelson State Park to celebrate Earth Day! Mondays With Matt: On The Passing Of Pope Francis (Hour 1)

4/21/2025
This morning, Pope Francis passed away. Todd believes that this Pope was one of the greatest in modern history due to his humility and intentional reflection of Christ’s teachings over religious dogma. Regardless of one’s religion, Pope Francis’s focus on acceptance was admirable. Today, our friend Matt Flynn joins us to talk about the Pope’s impact on Catholicism. In addition to serving as the Chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, Matt is an attorney, and he represented Milwaukee’s Roman Catholic Archdiocese for many years. In this position, he had a unique vantage point on the Catholic sexual abuse scandal. He shares details good and bad in his book, Confessions of a Church Lawyer: In Defense of Christianity. We also ask Matt’s opinion on continuing developments in the Trump administration’s illegal deportations. What does this mean for the future of due process in America? At the bottom of the hour, Civic Media Sports Director Jimmie Kaska joins us to discuss some big changes coming to the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA). Once again, Name, Image and Likeness deals are potentially on the table for high school students. Wisconsin is the last state to allow these NIL deals in high school, and Jimmie expects the amendment to pass this time. Read more about the other proposed WIAA amendments at civicmedia.us/news. Weekly Best of Todd Allbaugh Show for Apr 19

4/19/2025
From Tuesday's show: How Trump’s Policies Are Wrecking Your Coffee (Hour 2) We welcome TJ Semanchin, Owner and President of Wonderstate Coffee! He and his Viroqua-based business are part of what makes Wisconsin great. Wonderstate has developed relationships with coffee farmers around the world to ensure that they are fairly compensated for the excellent coffee they grow. However, from cutting USAID to implementing nonsensical tariffs, the Trump administration’s actions are causing companies like Wonderstate to either increase prices or shut down entirely. For coffee in particular, low supply has already increased prices before these tariffs. From Friday's show: Saving Hearts and Killing Rats by Doug Moe (Hour 2) At the bottom of the hour, Madison-based author Doug Moe returns to the show to talk about his latest book, Saving Hearts and Killing Rats: Karl Paul Link and the Discovery of Warfarin. It’s an incredible Wisconsin story and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Wisconsin Book of the Month. Saving Hearts and Killing Rats is available for purchase from Henschel Haus Publishing and your local bookstore. Saving Hearts and Killing Rats by Doug Moe (Hour 2)

4/18/2025
To kick off our second hour, Todd continues discussing Bob Spindell’s lack of decorum in the Wisconsin Election Commission meeting. As his former boss Dale Schultz would say, Todd finds himself “in the heat of agreement” with our callers and texters. At the bottom of the hour, Madison-based author Doug Moe returns to the show to talk about his latest book, Saving Hearts and Killing Rats: Karl Paul Link and the Discovery of Warfarin. Fake Elector Bob Spindell Strikes Again (Hour 1)

4/18/2025
In the last Wisconsin state budget, Governor Evers used his line-item veto power to extend public school funding increases for the next 400 years. As of this morning, our state supreme court has ruled that this move is constitutional and will stand. While many of us agree that funding schools is important, is this the right way to do it? Todd isn’t so sure. We take some calls and texts with your thoughts. In other news, a Wisconsin Elections Committee meeting devolved into a shouting match yesterday evening. Bob Spindell, a known perpetrator of 2020’s fake elector scheme, attempted to steer the conversation towards Milwaukee’s April 1st ballot shortages, a topic which was absent from the agenda. According to decorum rules, this is out of order, and Committee Chair Ann Jacobs yelled over Spindell until he returned to the topic at hand. Milwaukee has long been a scapegoat for the Wisconsin GOP to falsely claim that our state does not have secure elections. Spindell’s false outrage over a solved issue demonstrates further that he is unfit to serve on WEC. On The Future Of Due Process In America (Hour 2)

4/17/2025
This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: pity or ambivalence? We ask listeners to call and text in, but it’s no big deal. We have no strong feelings either way. At the bottom of the hour, Todd brings us updates on two breaking news stories. Firstly, he brings new information on the shooting at Florida State University. Currently, six people are being treated in hospitals, but no casualties have been announced. The suspect is in custody after a shootout with police. The next breaking news story revolves around President Trump’s move to end birthright citizenship. After pressure from Trump’s team, the Supreme Court has agreed to bypass the typical court process to hear the case on this potential revocation of rights. According to great reporting from the Daily Cardinal, Federal Judge William Conley has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from canceling the visa of a UW-Madison student, pending appropriate due process. Good Elected Officials Listen To Their Constituents (Hour 1)

4/17/2025
BREAKING NEWS: Before we kick off today’s show, Todd shares early details on an active shooter situation at Florida State University in Tallahassee. Stay tuned to your local news to hear more details as they become available. Today, we are very excited to welcome Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich! He recently wrote a guest column in The Recombobulation Area on where the Democratic party should go from here. He believes that the party is not taking strong enough action to carry out the will of the people. Genrich says that the high attendance of anti-MAGA protests and anti-oligarchy rallies across the country beg the question: do Democrats really want to be the party of the status quo? At the bottom of the hour, State Senator Sarah Keyeski returns to the program to update us on what she has accomplished in her first three months in office. Currently, she is fighting to proactively ban hedge funds from buying up single-family residences and jacking up prices. This situation is already occurring in Milwaukee, and Sen. Keyeski wants to prevent it from making homes even less affordable for Wisconsinites around the state. We wrap up the first hour, we take a dive into MAGA radio. Conservative talk show host Joe Giganti has labeled WI GOP Chairman Brian Schimming as “Pontius Schimming.” Giganti claims that Schimming is “crucifying” other Republicans because he isn’t extreme enough. United Wisconsin: What Is Fusion Voting? (Hour 1)

4/16/2025
This Wednesday, Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project joins us via phone to share his perspective on President Trump’s deportations without due process. As more information becomes public, things are looking even worse for the rule of law in our country. At the bottom of the hour, we talk with some folks from United Wisconsin about fusion voting. Former Republican State Senate Majority Leader Dale Schultz and former Democratic Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney come from very different political backgrounds, but they believe that Wisconsinites have more in common than we may realize. Much like ranked choice, fusion voting is a way to raise up less politically extreme candidates. Mike Clemens believes that the pitching is what’s making the difference. This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: gas station bathrooms or fast food bathrooms? We take your texts and calls on the matter. At the bottom of the hour, Todd rounds up the rest of the weekend’s political news and takes your calls. Happy Milwaukee Day with Dan Shafer (Hour 1)

4/14/2025
This morning, a crew of six women including Gayle King and Katy Perry made their way into space before safely touching back down. Todd watched live, and he gives us a recap. Happy 414 Day! Dan Shafer, Founder of The Recombobulation Area and Civic Media’s Political Editor, joins us to celebrate Milwaukee. As part of 414 Day, paid subscriptions to The Recombobulation Area are 41.4% off, and there will be some giveaways to new subscribers. Head over to www.therecombobulationarea.news to learn more about how you can stay up-to-date on Wisconsin politics and support independent journalism. At the bottom of the hour, Todd takes a break in covering all of Trump’s tariffs to remind us that MAGA merch is made in China. Donald Trump is a fundamentally dishonest man who will do anything for money. Despite all of his anti-China rhetoric, he still does business there. This weekend, Trump also spoke on immigration policy, proposing that all undocumented people should be deported and then given an opportunity to come back “the right way.” Todd has experience working with US immigration policy, and this approach is absolutely divorced from reality. We also hear a story of governmental overreach from political orphan and former Congressman Scott Klug. While Elon Musk and DOGE love to exaggerate government waste, it does happen. The solution is to apply common sense, not to indiscriminately cut programs.
