Summary of Lessons in Chemistry: A Novel by Bonnie Garmus
Having passed the litmus test.
In 1952, wives were expected to care for their husbands at home.
In a chemical lab, she is formulating hypotheses. Her intelligence isn't acknowledged by the people around her who don't enjoy being overshadowed, as you could anticipate. How does she see herself?
Because of Elizabeth's reactions-and lack thereof— to the individuals she encountered daily, there were occasions when I sobbed from laughter. Despite the comedy, this isn't the fluffy novel I was expecting.
Instead, it tells the story of a woman who is passionate about science and thinks that she shouldn't have to give up possibilities just because she is a woman.
Additionally, it's about finding your soulmate-the individual who will embrace and comprehend you.
I adored how committed and immersed she was in her work as a scientist. It was a real delight to be swept into her distinctive viewpoints and sense of purpose. I would recommend reading this if strong, incredibly brilliant female heroines pique your attention as they do mine.
Recently, Chemistry lessons have become increasingly popular, and for good reason. It's a heartening tale of a woman battling for acceptance in a society dominated by men. Elizabeth Zott is a scientist, specifically a chemist - simply a chemist, not a woman.
