Vince & Jo Have a Radio Show // 22 Apr 2025
4/24/2025
This week it's a lonely studio for your hosts but it is filled with love for the politically charged alt rock band from Bradford Drella. V&J play songs from Drella's live Slack Sunday Session at Daltons & chat to the wonderful Jonny on the phone about the band & what the future holds and it's looking bright in Bradford for Jonny, Toby & Alfie. Also the usual mix of fab new music.
Record Club: An Underground Miscellany // 24 Apr 2025
4/24/2025
In this 10th episode of record club A.V. considers the relative similarities of a few original vintage recordings and plays a bit of rock'n'roll and surf. She also plays an intriguing new version of a lesser known George Harrison track by guitar impresario Robin Nolan. Madonovan keeps them both happy by playing The Space Agency and relates one of his typically surreal stories about the time he accidentally met iconic rocknroller Dick Dale and obtained a unique vinyl signing.

OG OR MAN 127 - No Jacket Required // 24 Apr 2025
4/22/2025
Chaps at war have better things to think about than what suit and tie combination will go best with the Oval Office carpet. Any basically decent human being would get that. Which is precisely why Trump and Vance don’t. This week’s show as ever celebrates non-conformists, the brave, determined and quite, quite mad, including, inter alia: truckloads of new releases from Manchester encompassing heavy psych, dreamy electro-pop, celestial disco and punky dance rock, and from elsewhere ambient country (whatever that is), punchy hip-hop, ethereal prog-pop, meditations on good and bad presidents, and poetry from Manchester and Dublin, . And industrial rock from people called Kim. OG OR MAN - Music to put you in a right mood.

90 minutes of brand new underground sounds. Including two tunes from the debut album by Welly, a new single from Stereolab, liquid electronica with Rodolphe d'Audiffret, the deep grooves of Greentea Peng, infectious electro pop courtesy of The Hellp, an epic piece from Infinity Knives & Brian Ennals, plus plenty more besides. From out of the vaults come the fierce rock of Destroy All Monsters, ultra minimal techno from Underground Resistance, and a pop-sike gem from Linda Ronstadt’s first band The Stone Poneys. Meanwhile, both of this week’s soundtrack music selections come from 2009. Namely Marc Canham’s score for the immaculate thriller ‘The Disapperance of Alice Creed’ and a song by Karen O from Tim Burton’s charming ‘Frankenweenie’. Dig in!

Beautiful chaos may well have been this month’s musical theme, had the songs not picked themselves. These are tunes of the untethered: artists who exist outside the musical boxes we insist on confining them to. Artists who’ve paved the way, and those still pushing things forward… and then there’s Ariel Pink, still making everyone feel a bit uncomfortable, though a visionary nonetheless.
The Brian Turner Show // 23 Apr 2025
4/17/2025
Today: In 1979, Nurse With Wound entered a UK recording studio with no musical training whatsoever and created an album called Chance Meeting on a Dissecting Table of a Sewing Machine and an Umbrella, which promptly was awarded a rating of five question marks from Sounds Magazine. Since then, NWW has confounded critics and listeners alike, both pioneering and mining the areas of improvisation, Krautrock-influence, electroacoustic experiments and more, with unparalleled sense of invention and quite often humor. Today, Brian Turner reflects back on the massive body of work by this shifting ensemble, digging out a rare interview he did with its central figure, Steven Stapleton, from his Irish goat farm.
Rosie & John // 05 Apr 2025
4/16/2025
April, come she will. Well obviously the show opened with that perfect little Simon & Garfunkel number. And from then on there was no stopping the radio ragdoll wending its way through hits and hidden gems both old and new and in between, for three whole luxurious hours. Feature-wise, a spoken-word-themed We Love Four Tunes brings tracks from Anthony Joseph, Richmond Fontaine, Samantha Lindo and Spearmint; there’s some Whitney and Buckingham/Nicks in It Takes Two; and Covered In Glory delivers Muse covering “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and Lucy Dacus making Cher’s “Believe” sound like a song that you might listen to on purpose. Many more eclectic musical delights besides, as well as some live announcements like Slung’s instore at Family Store Records (25 April) and album launch at GDS (3rd May), and an Easter long-weekend bonanza of entertainment at the Bedford Tavern raising money for Rosie’s urgent fundraising campaign #HelpMeHelpB (more info/donate/share: https://www.gofundme.com/f/HelpMeHelpB).
