The Philadelphia Phillies get SWEPT out of New York as they dropped game three to the Mets 4-3 in innings. Zack Wheeler through 107 pitches over six innings of work, striking out nine Mets. His only mistake came in the 2nd inning when he left a cutter up in the zone to Brett Baty with a man on. Baty blasted that pitch 425 feet to right field. The bats picked Wheeler up as the tied the score at two with a two-run 4th inning. Johan Rojas and Trea Turner drove in runs on RBI singles to even the score. It remained 2-2 until the 10th inning when Nick Castellanos came to the plate and drove in Bryce Harper on an RBI single to left. The Phillies went on to load the bases with one out, but failed to get any more out of that opportunity. Bryson Stott flied out to center and Max Kepler flied out to right to end the threat. That opportunity came back to haunt the Phillies in the bottom of the 10th as Jordan Roman took the ball for the Phils. The Philadelphia Phillies fell to the New York Mets, 5-1 and are now in danger of getting swept out of Citi Field. The Phillies were put in a rough spot early as Cristopher Sanchez was forced to call it an early night due to what the Phillies later announced was left forearm soreness. The lefty was done after just two innings as he needed 58 pitches to get six outs. He surrendered two earned runs on four hits and two walks during his outing. As for the offense, they did very little to pick up their pitchers. The Phillies left nine men on base throughout the night, including going 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position. The Philadelphia Phillies lost to the New York Mets, 5-4 in their first meeting of the 2025 season. Aaron Nola started for the Phillies, still searching for his first win of the season and unfortunately he’s STILL searching! Nola tossed 6.1ip allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. He tried getting through 7 innings, but it was not in the cards. After retiring the first batter he faced in the 7th, he gave up back to back singles. Then Rob Thomson had seen enough and went to Jose Ruiz. Ruiz then surrendered a three-run homer to Francisco Lindor to make it a 5-0 Mets advantage. Two of those runs were charged to Nola. The Phillies Righty has some luck on his side early in the game, despite giving up two solo homers. He threw a MEATBALL to Juan Soto in the 3rd with two runners on. The play was called a three-run homer, but overturned as the ball was JUST foul. Then, in the 6th Nola had runner at the corners with one out. Jesse Winker then hit a ball on the screws, but right into the mitt of Bryce Harper who was able to double-off Brandon Nimmo at first. J.T. Realmuto’s RBI single in the 9th kept the Phillies from being shutout for the third time in 11 games, then Bryson Stott made it a one run game with a three-run homer. The Philadelphia Phillies blew a three-run lead as they fell to the Miami Marlins 7-5 in 10 innings. Jesus Luzardo tossed a gem over his 7 innings of work, allowing just two runs, one earned over his start. However, the Phils bullpen and defense prevented the lefty from getting his third win the season and prevented the Phillies from completing the sweep of Miami. The Phillies led 4-1, heading into the 7th inning with Luzardo still in the game. He induced a sharply hit inning ending double play ball, but instead of Bryce Harper fielding it and turning two, Harper let the ball go right under his mitt and into right field for a double. Then two batters later, with two outs now, Luzardo again induced another grounder, this one to Bryson Stott who let the ball go under hit mitt and off his foot allowing a run to score and the inning to continue. Luzardo would get out of the inning by getting his seventh and final strike out of the game. Despite Luzardo only being at 88 pitches, Rob Thomson decided his starter’s day was done and he went to the bullpen. Orion Kerkering came on in relief and surrendered a three-run homer for Javier Sanoja to give the Marlins a 5-4 lead in the 8th. The Phillies were able to tie the game at 5 in the 8th, thanks mostly to a series of misplays by Miami’s second baseman Otto Lopez. Zack Wheeler struck out 13 over his seven innings of two-run baseball, as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Miami Marlins, 7-2. Wheeler’s outing was backed by a two-run homer from Bryce Harper in the 1st inning as well as a four-run 2nd inning. Alec Bohm got the bats going in the 2nd with an RBI single. He was followed by a Johan Rojas RBI single to right and a Bryson Stott sac fly to center that brought home Bohm from third. Rojas scored one batter later on a wild pitch. Harper’s homer marked his fifth of the season and third of this homestand. The Phillies have now notched back-to-back wins for the first time since they were 5-1 and 6-1 on the season over two weeks ago. They are now 12-8. The Philadelphia Phillies were BLOWN OUT by the San Francisco Giants, 11-4 Wednesday night. Both Nola and Giants’ starter Robbie Ray struggled in the opening frame throwing 74 pitches combined in the 1st inning. Nola surrendered 4 runs in the 1st, while Ray gave up two. The Phillies offense actually came out swinging in the game, plating 3 runs in the first inning. Trea Turner with an RBI double followed by RBI single by Nick Castellanos and Max Kepler bringing in a run by beating a throw to first on a double play ball. Phillies starter Taijuan Walker entered play today not having allowed a run in his previous 10.2ip, but in the 2nd inning all that went out the window. Walker surrendered 6 runs in the inning. He could have limited the damage to just one run, but when Patrick Bailey hit a double-play ball back to Walker, the Phils’ pitcher fielded it and they threw well wide of Trea Turner at 2nd, sending the ball into center field. The Philadelphia Phillies were shutout for the 2nd time in 3 games as they fell to the St. Louis Cardinals 7-0 Sunday afternoon. Bryce Harper singled to left field with one out in the 3rd inning at that was the last baserunner the Phillies had for the game as Matthew Liberatore and the Cards bullpen shut the Phillies’ bats down from that point on. The Phils’ pitching wasn’t much better. Zack Wheeler allowed 4 runs over his 6 innings of work, marking the first time since 2023 that Wheeler went two starts without either being a quality start. Most of the damage to Wheeler came in the 6th inning, when he allowed 3 doubles, all to left field where Brandon Marsh was playing today. Marsh looked to be slow to react to 2 of the double that bounced into the stands for ground rule doubles. Matt Strahm took over in the 7th and allowed a run on a wild pitch, then Carlos Hernandez surrendered two more in the 8th on a 2-run homer by Jordan Walker.
